So you’ve gone to an event and you’ve experienced the joy of your first photobooth. You can’t stop thinking about the thrill of getting your instant prints, creating designs in the stunning mermaid backdrop, and the hilarious prop selection that fit perfectly with the theme of the event. You now have prints with all of your friends and family members pinned on your refrigerator to look back on (with digital versions as backups!). It’s Christmastime, and you’re struggling with gift ideas yet again. Your eyes drift to the prints scattered across your fridge, and you wonder if it’s possible to gift a photobooth to your friends and family…

Okay, maybe your idea of gifting a photobooth didn’t exactly go that way, but the process of gifting a photobooth can be ambiguous. We have decided to lay out best practices for gifting a photobooth, and there are essentially two options: organizing the photobooth experience yourself, and presenting the photobooth to the recipient as a gift.

Option 1: Organize the Photobooth Experience Yourself

Organizing the photobooth experience yourself is the more labor-intensive option, but it’s one that gives you creative control. You will have full access to the photobooth options and its setup. With this option, you also have the element of surprise. If you are put in charge of the photobooth for an event such as a wedding, it’s up to you to surprise the bride, groom, and guests with your creativity. You’ll have to plan the:

Sounds like a lot to process, but we will never leave you out on a limb with the whole planning process so don’t feel like you have to know everything about graphic design and color coordination. We have in-house graphic designers who can put together some common color schemes based on the event type.

Equipped with tools like LightRoom and Photoshop, our designers create themed templates for every occasion. With more than 25 combined years of expertise and training in digital and external design, the expectation of perfection is only the start.

By choosing to gift a photobooth in this way, you are gifting the entire experience to someone and taking the responsibility of planning off of their hands.

Option 2: Present the Photobooth As a Gift

The second option is to present someone with the gift of a photobooth for their next event. You can leave the design and backdrop options up to them. The best way to do this is to contact us directly and let us know which type of booth you are looking for – the full setup, or the new digital booth. The full booth has an attendant, backdrop, and a camera setup with a reflective umbrella. The digital booth is smaller and portable, with no attendant needed. If you know your gift recipient has a huge event coming up, such as a wedding, giving the gift of the full setup could help them check this off their list. If your recipient doesn’t have anything, in particular, coming up, the digital booth gives them the option to bring it around wherever they want. The digital booth can be brought to the beach, festivals, parties, etc. and then the photos can be shared on social media immediately.

Weddings are some of the best events to gift a photobooth for. Most of the time, the bride and groom are already going to be planning to rent a photobooth in the first place, so receiving one as a gift takes the burden off of the rental process. The bride and groom will already have so many other aspects of their wedding to plan, so choosing a functional gift can be one of the most thoughtful types. Here are some other examples of events where you can gift someone a photobooth:

  • Birthdays

  • Anniversaries

  • Baby showers/gender reveals

  • Graduations

  • Holiday parties

The Digital Booth is a perfect, portable size for in-home parties. Your photobooth gift doesn’t necessarily have to be used for a specific event – just a trip to the beach could be cause to bring along the digital booth.

Once you’ve chosen your booth type, we will reserve the booth for the date that you selected. If you need a gift receipt or card, we can issue one. We’ll walk you through the process and be there to answer any questions along the way.

The Satisfaction of Giving a Unique Gift

Whether you decide to become an impromptu photobooth designer or give the gift of complete photobooth creativity, gifting a photobooth is something completely unique. Once you’ve used one yourself, you know that someone else can benefit from it for their event. A photobooth is also not a completely transactional gift; while you are giving someone something tangible (the photographs), you are also giving someone the gift of memories, and that is completely intangible. We like to think that we are not just in the “photobooth business,” but the business of helping others create and capture memories. While that sounds cheesy, it’s completely true – we are in the business of helping people capture snapshots in time.
